The Oldenburg horse (or Oldenburger) is a renowned breed of sport horses from Germany. The registry is partially open, accepting horses based solely on (top) quality, and putting less or no emphasis on heritage or colour. As such, the breed performs exceptionally well in disciplines like dressage and show jumping.
The colours of the Oldenburg horses include chestnut, bay, brown, black and grey. The cream gene is present but very rare in the population. White markings are quite common, and even tobiano exists within the breed. As several stallions with tobiano have been approved for breeding, the pattern is likely to persist.
Several years ago a nearly white Oldenburg foal was born. The pattern was identified as a mutation of the KIT gene and received the designation W16. As of yet, this pattern is not part of the gameplay.
